While some carriers work directly with agents, many major ones require a partnership with an FMO to establish a contract. By teaming up with the right FMO, you can access multiple carriers rather than being limited to just one. Additionally, partnering with an FMO provides valuable sales training and marketing support to enhance your success.

The contracting process can differ based on whether you’re a new agent or an experienced one needing to transfer existing appointments.

• New Agents: The process generally takes a few weeks, depending on the carriers you choose. This timeframe includes carrier processing and background checks. If your contracts require training or certifications, it may take longer.
• Transferring Existing Contracts: For agents with existing contracts who need to transfer their appointments, the process can range from a few weeks to several months, depending on the carrier and the nature of the transfer.
