What is AHIP?
In order to sell Medicare Advantage or Part D drug plans, there is an annual AHIP certification , which can take up to 8 hours to complete, and then certification(s) with each and every carrier you want to contract with is required too. When you’re selling Medicare Advantage plans, you need to keep in mind that there are a lot of rules and regulations governing what you can and can’t do. These regulations help ensure that consumers are protected from many unethical marketing practices. Regulations change every year, and your AHIP certification does expire. But you can always get re-certified. AHIP certification proves to your consumer, and your carrier relations, that you’ve undergone AHIP training and are well-versed in the most recent CMS regulations.
How Do I Get My AHIP Certification?
The AHIP certification test costs $175, but many carriers offer a discounted rate of $125 if you take the exam through their agent portals.

AHIP 2021 certification will be available on June 22, 2020. The certification consists of two courses: Medicare and Fraud, Waste & Abuse (FWA).
